Ron Watkins, a native Californian, has lived in the South West California for most of his life. Born in Inglewood, California in 1942, he now resides in Newbury Park, California

Ron became interested in photography back in 1963 when he began taking black and white photos of scenery. He got seriously interested in photographing birds and wildlife when read Aurthor Morris's book "The Art of Bird Photography" In 1994 he went on a birding safari to Costa Rica and then was hooked on the birds and wildlife photography.

He stayed with slide film until 2000, when he converted to the Canon D30 digital camera. Around that time he joined the Conejo Valley Audubon Society and was very interested in photographing birds. Since then her has been upgrading his photographic equipment.

He took wild life photography classes in San Diego & La Joya with Aurthor Morris Birds As Art and was taught by Moose Peterson in digital photography.

Ron won 1st place in The 2001 Ventura County Fair, Seaside Park, Ventura California, with his photo of an African lion. His love of wildlife and nature photography has prompted he and his wife Audrey to explore nature and wildlife in Africa. In New Zealand he hired a personal guide John Kendrick of Kiwi Wildlife tours (http://www.kiwi-wildlife.co.nz/johnny_kendrick.php) to take him to unique places to take photos.
